Tooth Bonding

Dental tooth bonding is a procedure where Dr. Miller applies a tooth-colored composite resin to the surface of a patient’s teeth. Dental bonding is used to repair teeth that have become chipped, badly decayed, fractured, or discolored. Unlike dental veneers, which are created in a lab and take multiple visits to place, Dr. Miller can complete a bonding procedure during just a single appointment.

What is Tooth Bonding Used for?

Bonding offers patients an easy and affordable solution for repairing a variety of common cosmetic dental problems. In most cases, dental bonding is used to improve the appearance of chipped or discolored teeth. The procedure can also be used to close gaps between teeth, make teeth appear longer, or to change the shape and color of a patient’s teeth. Dr. Miller can shape and polish the composite resin used in dental bonding to seamlessly match the surrounding teeth.

How Bonding is Done

Dr. Miller will start by using a shade guide to select the composite resin color that most closely matches a patient’s teeth. Once Dr. Miller has selected the right color, he we gently begin to roughen the surface of the treated tooth. The tooth will then be coated lightly with a conditioning liquid, which helps improve the bonding process.

Once the tooth is fully prepared, Dr. Miller will apply the tooth-colored resin directly to the surface of the tooth. Dr. Miller will mold and smooth the resin until it forms the desired shape. Finally, the resin is hardened using a high-intensity light that works to cement the resin into place. Dr. Miller will then polish the material until the bonded tooth blends naturally into a patient’s smile.

Bonding typically only takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete. Why wait any longer to repair the damage done to your smile? Schedule a tooth bonding consultation at Valmont Dental Boulder today!

Dental Veneers

Made from thin shells of porcelain, dental veneers are custom made restorations designed to fit over a patient’s teeth to provide a rejuvenated smile. Dr. Miller can use dental veneers to fix teeth that have become chipped, misaligned, stained, uneven, worn down, and abnormally spaced. Veneers offer patient’s a lasting solution for improving their smile, as they are difficult to stain and incredibly durable.

To place dental veneers, Dr. Miller will start by removing a minuscule amount of enamel from the surface of the treated teeth. Removing a small amount of enamel is necessary to create room in the mouth for the veneers so they fit comfortably and function just like a patient’s natural teeth.

Dr. Miller will then take an impression of a patient’s teeth that will be sent off to a lab for the creation of their custom veneer. Using the highest quality materials, the lab will then create a veneer that will perfectly fit the patient’s teeth and mouth. During a patient’s final visit, Dr. Miller with bond the veneer in place using a durable resin.

It’s important that patients maintain their oral health through daily brushing and flossing, along with scheduling regular exams and cleanings with our team at Valmont Dental Boulder, to ensure the health and longevity of their veneers.
